The first ever FiFi Indie Award was presented in conjunction with the Elements Showcase. Nominees for the FiFi Indie award were required to meet the following criteria:

Must be an established brand (registered company) and on the market for at least 2 years

Must be independent, not distributed or owned by a large company

Must be sold in 1 to 50 doors (actual number of stores) in the U.S. including online

The nominated fragrance must have been launched in 2011.

A total of 36 fragrances from 30 individual brands were entered in the competition.  A panel of judges selected five finalists from the pool of entrants:

Carner Barcelona ‘Cuirs’

Come L’Amore, Bois 1920
Miller Harris La Fumee
Odin New York 06 Amanu
Siberian Snow by D.S.& Durga

The 2012 Indie FiFi was awarded at a special ceremony held January 30, 2012.

THE WINNER IS 06 AMANU BY ODIN NEW YORK!

06 Amanu: NOW  we’re talking!  So complex it resembles a living, breathing organism. Juicy blood orange weds two differing hues of green—galbanum and lentisque. Woods and florals sing in the heart, laid upon a mossy base.

The Foundry NYC Team:

The Foundry NYC group was awarded a FiFi statuette and a check for $10,000 from Givaudan to continue their creative endeavors in the fragrance world.  This new FiFi category recognizes the importance of the independent perfumer in the marketplace, and it was truly an honor for all entrants who participated in the first ever “Indie” FiFi award.  The Fragrantica team congratulates the winner and we wish success to all nominees and participants at the Elements Showcase.
